I'm moving the components of my pc to a new case and im buying a 5600x along side that, and I was wondering if a b550 board is worth it? I know it wont be a large increase but I don't know fully know what the benefits are either.

p.s: for context the current motherboard I have on rn is the msi b350m mortar.

That board doesn't support Ryzen 5000, so you'll have to get a new board anyway. Besides, those 1st gen MSI Ryzen boards in my experience had some issues, so even if it did support that CPU, it would be a good idea to get a new one anyway.

I don't think B350 boards support Zen3 CPUs, so you will need a new board with your 5600x

Technically speaking, its down to the specific board and if the manufacturer released a BIOS supporting it. Some did, most didn't.

That one in particular does not have one.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro
