Completely ignoring price, which of these PSU’s is the ‘best’?

The one other option is Seasonic Prime Titanium 850W SSR-850TR, however, I prefer 1000W+.

Spec’s are a 5950x and 3090.

Had a PSU issue and so the swap will be free to me.

There are a couple on the same level of the tier list, and I wasn’t really sure how to pick it apart from those.

For instance the Asus ROG Strix and the EVGA Supernova 1300G2.

I had a Tier A low-priority PSU burn up catastrophically (Maingear Ignition) and I’m just looking to get the safest/most reliable option at this point.

Where do you buy a PSU? Can you give me the store link?

Well a corsair rm850x will power your system no problem but if you do want more headroom even all of the ones you listed are good.

It’s from Microcenter.  I’m looking at the Columbus store specifically, which will affect what shows up.  Buying from anywhere else will mean paying out of pocket again, and I already have a full build completed and won’t be in need of a GC from there so much.

Even the thermaltake?

The Maingear was supposed to be pretty reliable, and I’m still waiting to see if the failure affected my mobo.  I’m shooting for 1000W as I use the cores for statistical/mathematical computing, and I want to have something I could transition to a threadripper-esque build if I ever need/want more cores.

The warning about 850W Seasonic TX psu’s and voltage spikes has me wanting to avoid it.  Microcenter only carries the above 1000W+ PSU’s.  There are two others, a Axi 1600W and Asus Thor but I’ll avoid those as overkill lol.

Yeah that toughpower is a great psu. I mean I wouldn't buy it over any of the others since it's more expensive but not necessarily better.

What maingear was it? I know they used to use seasonic designs and that their older ones were based on the pre 2018 designs which DO NOT handle the rtx cards well due to intense power tripping.

It’s the same Maingear Ignition 1200W shown above.

It popped, sparked/flared up a little, killed power to the PC, and smoked the room out. My ram LEDs turned back on, interestingly.  I had immediately switched it off and unplugged everything.  Everything looked fine visually including all connections, except the PSU itself smelled pretty terrible.  Wasn’t able to see the actual capacitor or anything that popped. Was running it for the last 8 months without any issue.  Wasn’t really doing anything intensive at the time, as I was using a virtual desktop.

Just feel like being a little paranoid/overly-cautious at this point.

The best on the list would be the Thermaltake TPG1200W. I don't know much about main gear.

Personally, I would like to choose 850W or another 1000W because of the price, but it is a pity that the list is limited.

Isn’t that a Tier C PSU though?  I wasn’t certain if I was navigating the model numbers correctly.

My interpretation is that the 1000W unit is Tier C, but the 1200W unit would be Tier A?

I apologize if it seems like I’m splitting hairs, I really appreciate everyone’s feedback though.

@ogvSo that should be fine.

The other options are G2 or ROG Strix, but the G2 is questionable as Superflower is known to no longer work with EVGA. The ROG is a Seasonic Focus with a worse heatsink, fan, but dirtyly expensive.

They’ll all inevitably be “free” after a price match and the refunded gift card.

Sounds like Thermaltake should be great, and so should the STRIX?  I’ll take the flashy surcharge, frankly.

My choice is Thermaltake. Strix is veeeeeeeeery expensive compared to the product.

I’m thinking I might just bite the bullet and pay out of pocket to grab a Corsair 2021 RMX 1000W from BestBuy.  It seems like it’s the all around better bet according to the tier list.

If you can get it close to $190, it's a much better choice for the price.
