Hello guys,

I would need some advice/confirmation if my GPU is actually really broke, now first let me show you my specs and then explain the situation 🙂 I hope you will read all of it!

Specs:
Mobo: Gigabyte x570 UD

CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X
GPU: RTX 2070 Asus dual 8GB OC EVO
RAM: 32GB Corsair 3000MHZ
COOLING: Corsair H150I Pro XT
M.2 1TB Samsung 970 EVO
SSD 1TB Samsung 860 EVO
PSU: 650W Coolmaster
Case: NZXT H710I

Bought a 2070 around a year ago was averaging 90-100 FPS at a certains spot in GTA always, went to bed and woke up the day after no update's or changes where made and i only had around 45-55 FPS left pretty weird.

We are now 2 weeks further and i decided to try Rust i was averaging a FPS of 100 (100 is cap didnt go down normaly), For some reason it seems to get worse overtime because where i was normaly avaraging a FPS of 100 it is now around 80-82 and it keeps going down, the funniest part is, after a few hours of beeing ingame it starts to spike drop aswel what i mean with this is, Im standing in an open field with 80 FPS, My friends fires 1 bullet (no more) and i drop to 61 FPS few sec later he fires again and stays at 80 FPS.

Reinstalled windows this means that there are ofcourse no Drivers installed on my system now there's a very scetchy part about this! When i install the latest driver of Nvidia (after doing all the others Chipset/etc) we all know that for some reason your screen starts to flikker for a second (go off and turn again hard to explain since im Dutch sorry) after that flikkering all my 3 monitors turn on but one of the 3 monitors has stripes in it for some reason (example bellow) when i turn my monitor of and on its gone, i also showed one of my friends trough Discord and he immediatly said your monitor is broke,  wich i could agree on HOWEVER it only does it when i update my driver and im not experiencing it anytime else, i even tried it on a diffrent PC updating their driver's and guess wut lol no verticle stripes in the right side of the screen so my guess its not the monitor wich is broken?

(Example of what my monitor is doing ,mine is doing it on the Right top side only Source is google)

BENCHMARK

Since im not sure if we can rely on ingame FPS i tried to do a benchmark the funiest thing is this turns out to be fine well atleast, that is what i think? Here is a picture after a benchmark

What ive tried to far!

- Reinstall Windows (Wiped both Disks) for around 15 times and 2 weeks later again since i tought it could be a faulty Windows version (Media Creation Tool + Legal Key).
- I tried an old Driver of NVIDIA from wich im sure it worked 100% perfect (Also tried without Drivers!)
- Cleared my Bios (CMOS)
- Tried to put my card in the second PCI slot however this didn't make it beter it only made it worse
- I tried my card in a diffrent system from a friend wich almost the same specs, he was also experiencing the massive FPS drops (left it there for 24H so he could try it 100% and see it was not my system)
- Kept an eye on all temps etc
- Opened my Case took everything apart gave it a nice cleanup (3 weeks routine) to see if anything wasn't correctly in place or installed but turns out it was!
-There is one thing i changed after reinstalling windows however i can not think of it would infect my FPS, I put my games on my M.2 Instead of the SSD

I must admit that i have played the New World beta on Day 1 and i was messing with the Graphical settings aswel, since it burned a few RTX's and alot of people with a Radeon are complaining on the forums at this moment aswel could it be possible that it also bricked my RTX 2070, since if im honest it kinda started at the day i played New World.

A few questions where i really need answer to 🙂:

Since ive tried it in a diffrent system from a friend and he tried it over 24 hours where he was experiencing the same issue's in multiple diffrent games i asume my card is actually broken?

Is it normal for a card to dip around 30-40 FPS while gaming? Since i check our favorite youtuber Linus on a daily base aside with a few others of those well known youtubers or benchmark video's, i pretty much always see stable FPS so if lets say they get around 100 FPS it sometimes dips to 95 or goes to 102 FPS but thats it or is this just an a very good environment?

In case my RTX 2070 might be broken im willing to get myself an GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3080 TI EAGLE 12G  however my 650W PSU probably won't be able to boot my system after installing this card?
In case my 650W isnt able to boot the system would a
Seasonic Prime PX-850W do the job?

In case i order this GPU and PSU will it be possible to work with my CPU (Ryzen 7 3800x) and Motherbord (Gigabyte x570UD PCI 4.0) for now? I heard it has a 15% bottleneck, will i experience it that heavy? or could i save up for a month or 2-3 and upgrade the CPU then without worying?

I hope anyone could answer my questions/give me advice, and if you did read my whole post i would like to thank you for spending your time to read my post, Thankyou!

Greetz zRv

UPDATE: Just found out it only uses half of my GPU? Also i just tought of this,
When i boot my pc everything is completly fine but when i try to open for example Displaysettings or anything simulair it will idk feel laggy for 0.5 seconds and doesnt happen anymore after that, is this just a windows thing or might it reffer to a broken M.2? (Also installed windows on the SSD only didnt seem too change any)

People aren't going to read that entire novel.

Just type a short paragraph about what the current issue is , and the diagnostics steps you already did.

i agree on that, and i shouldn't have writen a whole novel lol, i tried to cut it out as much as i could, i hope you are willing to read it now and give me a bit advice, also my questions i tried to cut out a bit but i can't cut out to much since i need the information 🙂

Again thank you for replying to the topic and i hope i can get a real reply now with some advice and answers ! Thanks again

that could be true yes

depending on what game it is and whats happening yes it can dip a lot especially if it online as online gameplay can really mess with a machines consistency

I'm gonna skip the rest of your questions and focus on the issue.

Check that your boards bios is updated as it's had 12 bios updates since it's release and several have to do with system stability. Update it and see if anything has changed and go from there.

Bassicly what happened is that i lost 50% of my FPS by turning my pc off at night waking up the day after and turning it on again (no changes/updates made) also spike laggs and freezes 1/2/3 sec once a while, doesnt mather wich game's nor does it mather story or online, changing quality settings also won't change any, tried a friends system didn't see freezing but 50% FPS los was also there on his system (same specs) and if i update the drivers 1 out 3 (randomly) starts to output verticle lines (tested monitors on diff system and updated no issue)

ok, and it happened after the new world thing *and* the card had the same issues in another pc…

the solution is really easy (hopefully) u need to rma this card and stop using it, its not safe to use anymore, like at all.

Upgraded to a 3080TI and sund the 2070 RMA, not getting better FPS, replaced everything again everything is correctly installed getting outperformed by a 2070 atm
