yes I'm sure I want a laptop because I have been making pc part picker list and honestly I think q laptop is a better deal because my current laptop is from 2010 and it still runs some games good for it's age but with a desktop it's hard to find a gpu and a good CPU without going over my budget because this is my budget for a new monitor keyboard and mouse and speakers and if I get a desktop I will have to buy a new desk because mine is too small and I want something that's portable any suggestions for a laptop

Buying a laptop also comes with advantages...
Do you personally own both (mid/high end desktop and laptop)? I see a lot of people talk bad about laptops without ever actually owning a good one...

That is a very tight budget, if you can stretch it by another 200$:

If the 850$ is the hard ceiling... you will need to get something with last gen (20** / 16***  series Nvidia, 4000 series AMD).

I personally have had problems with Acer products (monitors and laptops), bad build quality, stuff failing etc. I might just be unlucky, but anyhow will not buy anything with an Acer logo for a long time.

But my laptop from 2016 is bad build.

My sisters Acer lasted 4 years but still not too good.

850-900 puts you in that weird no-mans land in terms of laptop pricing and what you are getting currently...

For 750-800 you can find 1650 + ryzen 4000 6 core, and that is gonna perform way worse than 3050ti + ryzen 5000 octa core.
Beside that, If you go for the cheaper option:
You won't get an RTX card, so no DLSS (which will come in handy in a few years to boost your FPS and get more life out of the laptop).

You won't get a MUX switch.

You won't get 16GB of RAM but typically 8GB and possibly slower RAM, it might even be soldered (yuck).
You probably won't get a an excellent cooling solution but a mediocre one at best.

You might get less storage out of the box, no 2nd nvme slot for an upgrade.
You won't get a high refresh rate + color accurate screen.

For 200$ / 20% price difference (from your original 850$) you have to sacrifice a lot... IMHO too much, especially since you plan on gaming on it.
