I went to shut my computer down last night, forced me to update. Everything happened normally, I went to bed.

Come home from work today, computer won't go past the screen for motherboard manufacturer logo (where you spam the living daylights out of del to go to bios). System also isn't responding to any keystrokes. Before you ask, I do have my keyboard and mouse in USB 2.0 ports - I've had issues in the past with bios not wanting to detect USB 3.0 inputs.

The update is the ONLY thing that's been downloaded to the computer in 2 weeks and the system has been operating normally since I rebuilt it 3 months ago.

Specs:

5800X

Gigabyte Aorus Elite x570

Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3600mhz (didn't get b-die, I believe Cas is 18 but don't quote me)

MSI 1650 Super

Thermaltake Toughpower Gold 750W psu (about 6 years old now but this system is the strongest it's been in. I know that for a fact because I bought the PSU at Fry's Electronics [RIP] and had it in a fx4350 based system for 4 years with a gt710 gcard.)

WD SN750 NVME (boot drive)

Sunbow 1TB 2.5" SSD

Seagate Barracuda 8TB mass storage

As of right now I haven't tried any diagnostic steps, though I am considering unplugging the SSD and HDD to see if that gets me anywhere but I'm pretty convinced that isn't going to do anything.

Any advice would be helpful... today's been a  LOOOOOOOONG day and I'm not quite thinking straight.

Thanks in advance!

When you first turn on the computer and try to get into the bios right away (spam the button as soon as you press power) can you get into the bios then?

If not, the update is maybe just coincidence to the problem and something else is going on. A windows update won't prevent you from getting into the bios.

No luck...

Was hoping maybe someone telling me to do that would make the stars align for me lol!

Question, would hitting the button for q flash mess up bios if you don't have a USB in the flash port? My subway sandwich was pressing END (the button on my mobo for q flash) when I turned it on. Long shot, I know, but worth giving every bit of data I have. However, if the motherboard didn't have a bios I doubt it would even make it to that screen (but what do I know, I bake bread for a living).

I do know the board itself isn't throwing me any diagnostic LEDs that I can see.

Unplug the computer from the wall, pull out the CMOS battery, count to 10, put it back in. That'll clear the CMOS.

If that's still not working, take out all the ram, and reseat one stick.

If that's still not working, take out the GPU and see if it throws a code.

If that doesn't work, then I'd consider unplugging everything and reseating all of it (aside from the CPU)

If that doesn't work, could be a dead motherboard.

Are you using an APC, or are you straight into the wall? Something could have happened overnight, who knows. Personally, it blows my mind how few people use battery backups.

I've been wanting to get a UPC for a while but until the last 2 or 3 months ALL of them have been out of my budget (If you can't tell from my previous posts, I've slowly cobbled this build together). It is, however, plugged into a surge protector but those things can only do so much.

*Can feel the shame being sent my way*

Oh your ideas mean I have to move this chonky PC around... well. Let's get to it!

Cmos and ram didn't work.

By throw a code, you mean see if the motherboard detects that there isn't a graphics device installed and starts shining the led at me?

It is possible that maybe the qflash without a drive may have done something.

Maybe try setting up a drive with the bios on it and complete the process. That way you can just flash the latest bios to make sure it is good.

This seems to cover the how to. But I would refer to the manual as well.

Just wanting to touch base with y'all. I keeled over before getting to finding my bios f-drive. Did that just wallago and downloaded the newest version.

Was having some trouble with getting it to detect at first so I started unplugging devices from the computer.

One of my non-boot drives was messing with something the motherboard was trying to do. Currently updating bios. I'm going to try the drives in different sata ports to see if I just had one of those bite the dust or if the drive itself has died.

I appreciate the help!

Edit: It appears my Sunbow SSD died. Considering the money I spent on that thing, not really a surprise. And IIRC, I didn't have anything too important on there that I can't either re-download or had already backed up, or was planning on tossing anyways.
