CPU:  Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($447.35 @ PB Technologies) -OK but for randering maybe go 2011? (6 cores and stuff)
CPU Cooler:  Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler  ($172.00 @ Paradigm PCs) -DRP3 is my faforite but the Noctua is also great
Motherboard:  Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($327.00 @ Paradigm PCs) -Also I dont like Gigabyte but its a pretty solid MOBO
Memory:  G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  ($234.00 @ PC Force) - OK/ Maybe later ad more?
Storage:  Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($424.35 @ PB Technologies) - Love this SSD (In each PC im am having/building is such a SSD

I would advise you to go with either the 780TI 6GB Or the Titan Black. No way will 3Gb be enough for 4K.

I would advise you to go with either the 780TI 6GB Or the Titan Black. No way will 3Gb be enough for 4K.

This. 3GB is a bit on the low end for 4K resolution. Certainly go for some Titan Blacks, or wait for the 6GB 780 and get 2 of those.

This. 3GB is a bit on the low end for 4K resolution. Certainly go for some Titan Blacks, or wait for the 6GB 780 and get 2 of those.

If you checked some reviews you would see that even in the heaviest games, memory usage rarely goes above 3GB at 4K without AA (which logically isn't needed). My advice would be wait until summer and see if Maxwell is out/going to be out soon and decide. I don't think current GPU's have the horsepower to run 4K efficiently.

thank you. 4gb is the sweet spot although that most likely maxwell which doesnt look very far off so id wait for that.

its not 8 gig its 4,Vram doesn`t add up. and 3 gig is on the low side.couse if you didn`t payed attention this is for 4K .

rarely but it does!  and what about future games ? you drop 2K on 2 cards that you will upgrade next year ? but i agree with the last part,4K is not worth it .not even with next gen

well then you need a titan black. thats a rendering card and in your case it fits couse you shoot for 4K and you need the vram

Definitely consider this:

Get a couple of Titan Black cards. The feature set of Titans is more suited to your use than regular GeForce cards.

Get more system memory (it depends on what application you use, but using more than 16GB for high resolution video work is totally a thing).

Get a larger hard drive (1TB will run out fast with raw 4K footage if you plan on shooting in 4K).

 

Maybe consider this stuff too:

Get a 4930K and a compatible motherboard, though this isn't necessary if the GPUs will do ALL of the heavy lifting.

Maybe a larger PSU? 1050W? I'm not sure you'd want to worry about overclocking potential if you go for a LGA2011 part with Titan Blacks with a 850W PSU.

Who buys $600+ cards just so they can't play maxed out games at 4K in the future? I mean really. If you are building for 4K, you have to buy a GPU with more than 4GB to prepare for things to come. 

Skyrim, with enough mods to make it beautiful, uses over 4GB of VRAM. I know. I have a 290X and measured it with GPU-Z.

Even if I don't mod skyrim, just by tweaking the Shadow resolution and distance, I can hit 4GB of VRAM. Just from shadows. In fact. All I did was double the Shadow resolution, and my VRAM usage went from 1.3GB to 4.0+GB causing my FPS to drop to 5-15. That was after increasing the distance I could see them drastically of course, but still. You get the point.

Who buys $600+ cards just so they can't play maxed out games at 4K in the future? I mean really. If you are building for 4K, you have to buy a GPU with more than 4GB to prepare for things to come. 

Skyrim, with enough mods to make it beautiful, uses over 4GB of VRAM. I know. I have a 290X and measured it with GPU-Z.

Even if I don't mod skyrim, just by tweaking the Shadow resolution and distance, I can hit 4GB of VRAM. Just from shadows. In fact. All I did was double the Shadow resolution, and my VRAM usage went from 1.3GB to 4.0+GB causing my FPS to drop to 5-15. That is Skyrim, most games don't get even close to that, even at 4K. In fact, most don't go over 3GB, and I don't think games will hit the 4GB limit at 4K anytime soon, maybe in 2017, and in that time, all the cards we can buy today will be atrocious. Actually, even 2 Titan Blacks can't run 4K properly and finally when the time comes we need more than 3-4GB, you can just toss them into the rubbish bin cause they can't run anything. We can't talk about VRAM longevity today, when the GPU's themselves are weak.

OOPS... I got one running here. Its ABSOLUTE silent and relatively cold.... but ya an AX is better for sure. Mine RM runns fine in a BOINC/F@H system
