Budget (including currency):  $1800-$2000 USD

Country: America

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: FPS, Minecraft, and Productivity

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  Here is my current parts list https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YTKTK3. It would really mean a lot to me if you guys can give me some tips on how to fix up my parts list and how to get my budget down to $1800-$2000 USD. I am actually upgrading from a console. I am going to be buying the components somewhere in November, when maybe the components get a bit "cheaper". I really want to play at 1440p, but 1080p is good to. For FPS I want to be +144. Thanks 🙂

You don't need a 6700XT for 144 fps in MC and most FPS games at 1080p. My recomendation would be to skip the 6700XT for now and find something like a 980 ti or a 1070 on ebay and then wait for the gpu price shenanigans to blow over before upgrading. Congrats on your first build and best of luck good sir! You might need to update the bios for the motherboard for your cpu to work with it (I haven't done any specific research for that board but there isn't a guarantee with B550 chipsets.) Other than that it looks like a sweet rig.

Overall, it's a fine build (if you ignore the super overpriced GPU). If you need to save some money, go for a lesser cooler (Noctua NH-U12S should be more than enough for about 1/3 of the price). Also, change out the SSD for a WD SN550, SN750, or Samsung 970 Evo. ADATA hasn't been the most reputable SSD manufacturer recently, so you're better off with going with one of those (especially since you don't need an RGB SSD, they're a bad idea).

All that being said, if your plan is to wait until like November to buy the parts for the system, wait until then to finalize the parts list. By then, Zen 4 and Alder lake should be right around the corner, and prices on everything else will have changed drastically enough that things that make sense to buy now won't make sense to buy then.

7/10

Wasting on uneccesarily expensive aio, ram, and case

The aio is useless unless you are gonna overclock which i bet you arent since most newbies dont go straight to overclocking (which is a good thing)

There are cheaper rgb rams out there, look at tforce rgb or silicon power turbine rgb

There are cheaper rgb cases out there, look at forge 100r, montech x1, p400a, etc.

Tbh with the money saved you can easily upgrade the cpu to a 5800x

Im fine with rgb unless it becomes a money pit forcing you to downgrade your cpu or gpu aka actually important parts of your system that actually makes it fast

GPU is overpriced, but right now they all are.

Big nerd.

This is how you do rgb

Upgraded the cpu to a 5800x 8 core

Upgraded the ram to 32gb since idk what you are actually using for productivity and most productivity apps i know of use more than 16gb of ram

Had to yeet the aio cause of how overpriced it was

Kept the rgb on the ram, ssd (why?), and case since those were the cheapest to implement rgb

This is how you do rgb, max out your computer first, then if you have leftover budget you can add the rgb in

Not the other way round so you get maximum performance but also get to enjoy the lights aswell
