Rare old Coin? Anyone know about it?

OldFord76

So yes I know this is a strange place to post this, but my parents don't allow me to use any other forums for whatever reason. Anyway, I wondered if someone with a knowledge of coins could tell me if this is worth anything? Its a 1922 Silver Peace dollar from what I gathered. It was given to me by my grandfather several years ago.

If it's worth nothing else, it's from your Grandfather - Keep it.
From a pure coin collector's standpoint 30-50 sounds right based on expected/average condition of a coin that was in circulation but if it's in really good condition or even better that just makes the value go up, well above what the silver content of it would be alone.

There are a few things that determines value or worth:
Year, mint mark, condition and the market demand for one like it.
Know all that and you know what you've got and it's worth.

BTW as a bit of general info about coins, coin dealers will NEVER tell you what it's actually worth, they'll quote (Lowball) you a value/price they want to pay for it, then try to buy.
If they do buy it, then it's at least triple what they paid for it or more to sell it.
You have to know what you've got to keep from getting screwed this way.

You CAN get it appraised and certified condition-wise for it's real worth and I'd suggest doing that IF you ever have any thoughts about selling it - And even then watch for lowball offers becaue you'll get 'em.
The only place you'd ever get it true value if selling is at an auction or something similar if it's of any worth.

Learn the hobby, how it works and you'll see.
