Hello, I built my first pc and cannot get it to post. When building my pc I felt as though I may have overtightened my 5600x onto my b550 aorus pro ac mobo but wanted to try it out. The first thing I noticed is that when switching on my PSU my motherboard flashes white/blue for a split second. I have read conflicting facts on this as either a short in the system or that this is normal for aorus mobos. After this my Phanteks p400a case was able to turn on no problem however the CPU "debug light?" was red on my mobo. To use this setup I had to flash my mobo which I feel as though went perfect, I downloaded the correct/newest bios update (f13j, which now looks to be the second newest update), and the process was identical to videos I saw where it takes around 7 mins and the mobo shuts off after. After not being able to post I was also not able to shut off the system from my case button which worked to turn it on.

I did not connect any of the RGB properly as all fans ran but none of the case fans or aio lit up, only my 3060ti aorus master. I do have my SATA and "drgb fan" 3 pin connector from the case not connected to anything but it seems that should not make a difference.

For attempt 2 I removed my Deepcool castle 240 RGB v2 aio pump head/CPU, and inspected the pins; The pins were perfect, I spent a good 5 minutes checking it out from every angle in the light. There was, however only a little bit of stock thermal paste left on it and I was not able to add more as I had none. I also changed my pump power from "CPU opt" to "CPU fan" as I read this could be an issue. I reinstalled the cooler and triple checked my front panel connectors which I use within the mobos included "g connector"

The result was the exact same, all the case fans ran, the CPU light was on, the pc did not post, and I could not shut off the pc from the case power button again. I shut off the system from the PSU for the second time and feel clueless.

I had to wait quite awhile for parts I am fairly sure all of the retail warranties on all of my parts have expired and I am very unsure of where to go and what to do, should I look for local repair companies? I coincidentally live a stones throw from linus hq lol, or am I missing something obvious? I am more than happy to provide supplementary information if anyone needs it.

thanks

Ooh! That’s a good one for the tech purity test: “have you ever seen a boot error light?”
I still like the IT crowd test of “is it plugged in?” And “have you turned it off and on?” It’s pretty hard to overtighten a cooler to an ihs with the included equipment.  Was a wrench or other grasping and leverage tool involved in this at all?  if not the chances you broke the thing are low.  As a first time builder though the chances that your cables are connected incorrectly are pretty high. Maybe pull and reinsert everything a few times to make sure you’re getting a good metal to melt all electrical connection and make sure they’re all in the correct places.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Yeah I guess going through everything and just try different things is the next step. My main concern with all of this is as I said, the fact that I am repeatedly shutting off the system from the psu and seeing light flashes when I flip the psu switch. I am afraid of damaging components trying things and the whole power button only working one way for some reason is throwing me off. I think I'll try not using the g connector but if doing what I am doing isn't causing any damage thats great.

Apparently this is in fact a normal occurrence for my particular motherboard.
