Hello,

I recently upgraded my cpu to the Intel i9 10850k, and ever since the upgrade, my pc will randomly freeze mid game, no matter how demanding the game is. Thermals are fine when the freeze happens, and no BSOD. I am at the end of my wits. Anybody have any suggestions?

Changing something in a computer’s internals runs the risk of hitting or mire connecting something.  Also changing a cpu can affect other things that the need to be reinstalled sometimes.  Maybe have a look at hwinfo to see what is going on.  Memory issues can be a thing too with crash after boot. You also upped the power draw and machine heat when you changed out the cpu, so thermals and power need to be looked at.  A full run or two of memtest86 might be in order just to make sure it’s not a memory problem.  It’s kind of probably something else but running a memtest is cheap and easy.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
