How do i change the icon for file extensions back to default?

You can export the key before deleting as a backup just in case.
Alright, thanks. Actually i found another way: create text file > rename text file extension to "exe" > do the whole "open with" thing > associate the file with the newly created "exe" file > delete the "exe" file > reboot pc > try to open the files in question > it wont work and windows resets it to default, blank state…
But, i'll try deleting the key next time, that actually seems to be a lot less hassle!
Edit: well, this is actually the "fix" that worked for me, its dumb, but it would probably work with any program, but that would require to install a more or less random program, its better to use a selfmade "exe"
