I noticed when i was testing frequency response of my speakers that one of the woofers was making subtle buzzing sound around 60hz until 130hz. I swapped the drivers and the driver that made the noise continued to do it, so i excluded possible amplifier interfering. Upon "closer" inspection, both drivers are visually identical and in great condition, first i though that the soldier on lead wires is bad, but no in both drivers they are soldiered firmly. Cloth surround is also in perfect shape no tears anywhere or any signs of age, dust cap glued tighly, nothing visually different from the driver that doesn't make the slight buzzing. I didn't care about it much since i only noticed it when i played static sine waves through it which are basically never found in music or other content, but i began noticing it in movies sometimes when the bass rumbles, very slightly. I wish not to recone or refoam them since cloth surround in itself is very hard to find and i never trusted a reconed speaker to be the same one again, replacement drivers are also basically non existent in my country and importing them is not worth it. Does anyone have experience with this behavior?

The lead wires might be either hitting the spider, the backside of the diaphragm, or the other lead wire.

Another less likely cause is that the pole piece/magnet is scraping the voice coil ever so slightly. But I seriously doubt this is the issue.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
