Budget (including currency): $2000

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (F1 2021, City Skylines, etc...) School work (programming)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently have an Mac Mini and an Xbox and want to move to PC for both work and play. Would like to play games at 1440p 120hz or 4k 60hz. This is my first build and would appreciate any input on my current parts list (spending too much/too little on certain parts) and general advice. Thank you! P.S. I am willing to wait until GPUs are closer to MSRP, I know this might not happen till 2022 but I am trying to plan ahead.

Additionally, because this is my first build I am afraid to get a mobo without BIOS flashback because of the issues with AMD 5000 series CPUs and X570 chipsets not being compatible out of the box.

With $2000 at MSRP, you could theoretically build with a 3080 and a 5900x. It's not necesscary, and you would be fine with a 5600x or 5800x (so feel free to downgrade if needed)

You don't need X570. The only benefits of X570 is more PCIE Gen4 lanes (basically, allows for more than one Gen4 drive) And you don't even have a PCIE Gen4 drive. So why don't you get a B550 Tommahawk instead, a board that is
-Cheaper
-has better VRMS

Looks pretty good, would get this power supply

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DvCFf7/enermax-revolution-df-750-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-erf750ewt

motherboard is meh, could go for b550, but if you are paranoid ig its fine because it's not that bad. Build would come out to closer to $1500 instead of $2k.

Thats a great point! Because I am more concerned about the size of my SSD and not the speed I could definitely use a B550 board. Thank you!

9/10

Nothing is wrong with this build

Only optimizations you may wanna make are

Swapping the case for a cheaper case like lancool 215 or p300a

Cheaper ram

Cheaper ssd

Cheaper board

Only reason im giving 9/10 is not overspending on garbage (looking at you expensive rgb ram and fans) and the parts you chose are already quite cheap

Btw are you gonna oc?

Thank you for the recommendation! I do have a noob question, I keep seeing ATX12V standard this is not the same as ATX12VO, correct? ATX12V has all of the rails that I need for standard ATX parts, correct? One other question, when the specification for a power supply says it has 2 (6 + 2 Pins) PCIe connectors that means it has 2 8 pin connectors needed for a 3080, correct?

Initially I do not think that I will overclock. However, once I get more comfortable with the computer I would not rule it out.

Another mediocre pcpartpicker by me .-.

5800x 8core, cause i dont think youll need 12 cores

Liquid freezer 240, prob uneccesary but i guess itll keep temps under control

B550a pro cause it doesnt seem like you will do any ocing

2tb 970 evo, i think there are cheaper options for this but ah well ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯

Cheap mesh case to save some money

Gpu is up to you
