United States here rocking a B360-A Pro inside my older gaming rig.

Rig has had some upgrades over the years, currently has the following inside:

1000 Watt 80 Plus Gold Power Supply
I7-9700k - 3.60 GHz - (Not Overclocked)
64GB Ram
64 Bit Operating System

1060 Graphics Card
250GB SSD
2TB SSD
1TB HDD - Photos
2TB HDD - Work

I'm looking into upgrading my Motherboard, what would be a good path to go down and what can I really do here to build a better machine.
I eventually would like to get a 2060 Super or a 3080; however, they are a little hard to come by.

Would a B560M be a good upgrade, or can I go with a Z590 or something like that?

Any help will be appreciated.

If you don't plan on overclocking, B460M or B560M, if you choose the right board, can be used for about any CPU.

I use an i9-10900K on a $100 B460M Steel Legend.

11th gen Intel is basically just 10th gen but more expensive with barely any performance improvements. I would probably stick with 10th gen. Especially since Intel's probably just going to switch sockets again for 12th gen anyways, so not only is the upgrade path worse, but the exact same amount of longevity.

I appreciate the tip, I've never swapped around motherboards before so I want to be careful.

I have an I9 in my work PC I was thinking about swapping over, I don't really have any plans atm to go up to 11th gen Intel since the price is a bit high compared to even the performance an I7 is getting.

I will probably go with a B560M, there is a nice ARock Pro4 one for under $150 near me.

9700K is still a decent CPU overall, and nothing you can get from Intel is going to be worth the cost to upgrade along with a new board. Though, if you're basically getting an 10th gen i9 for free, that would be fine. Otherwise, I'd hold out for 12th gen, or switch to AMD.
