Software for managing raid

So got my server up finally and I have 12 disks installed. I was wondering if someone knew of a good program to manage my disks in a raid and would alert me if one of my disks failed to avert data loss. Maybe setup two drives as spares? I need to be able to run windows 10 for my server tasks, so not looking for a boot from usb or freenas, Any thoughts?

Windows storage spaces would work just fine for your scenario. That being said, I'd still recommend running something like Truenas (new name for Freenas) and running a Windows VM for all of the tasks you want. ZFS (the filesystem and drive manager behind Freenas) is more robust than Windows storage spaces, as well as having some very useful features like Snapshots.

unless you are good with what windows has to offer you your choices are very limited if you wanna run windows on bare metal.

generally i would recommend unraid and if you feel like you need windows just run a VM.
