My nerd cave

I've finally build desk for my nerd cave (custom design, and hand made desk).

It's laptops based settup:

MSI GL73 i7-8750H/16GB/RTX2060
Acer Aspire VX 15 i7-7700HQ/16GB/GTX1050
HP Elitebook (from work - some shitty i5 10gen - not recommend)

Monitors: Dell P2312ht, NEC MultiSync EA224WMi, Samsung SyncMaster 2243 + phones (Razer Phone, Galaxy a32) and tablet (Huawei mediapad t5)
Keyboards: Genesis Rhod 410, Krux Atax Pro rgb (as macropad), Razer Blackwidow Stealth (for secondary settup), Tracer Avenger (keypad for gaming), Hua Xing midistart 3 (midi controller on the wall as stream deck)
Mouse: Xenon 210
mic: Razer Siren X
Cameras: Logitech C922, Logitech C920, Kinect V2
And some other stuff - like old motherboards and phones to act as sound diffusers

It's just a wide angle camera effect  Only top ones are out of reach without moving the chair - so there are only "top level" commands there

To be fair, as a guy that has a lot of random stuff in my room, like extra keyboards, laptops, random old screens, old case fans etc, im truly amazed of how clean yet messy that set up is. I personally dont like it when things are too "clean", cause it can make something like a glas of water look out of place. Like i want a clean setup, but i also want loads of random stuff with cool features (like that piano!). 

Like lets say i have some old headphones, i could probably make a pair of PC speakers out of them - cause RECYCLING!

 

I got some old phones laying around and ive thought about making DIY OBS streamdecks with them, but i always end up not doing it cause it requires a lot of work and i never really use more than 1 scene in OBS.

 

One thing ive tried doing numerous times now is a DIY vr headset! Like using my phone as the VR headset itself, WII remotes as hands (with sensor), and then my xbox 360 kinect as body and extra hand tracking. I LOVE when i need to make things from scratch or use other devices for things they weren't built for. But as usual, it never happens cause of one thing or another.

Something ive ALWAYS wanted to do is completely fill an small and empty room with a bunch of random and useful tech. Like a greenscreen corner with my main PC desk on the other side of the room and maybe even a big TV on the third wall for movies/co-op gaming. I basically just want to put as much things in one place as possible!

haha  I don't know if it is a praise or "hate"  
I also love to "reuse" old stuff - that's why there is this midi controller as stream deck.
It all started few years ago, and didn't always look that "clean" - at some point I've just decided, that I have to get my shit together and make it proper funcional place

No no no that's a huge praise my guy! I love messy yet super clean and understandable setups like yours. Its like you know everything in that room got one or two uses and purposes.

Reusing old tech is as good as it gets when it comes to PCs and other types of Tech. Seeing one old thing be used for something else is just amazing!

And also, id like to do something like this myself, but my room is a bit too big for it, and i dont really know where to start. I already got a pretty decent PC setup, so i might get a TV for my wall to begin with, and then a couch or something for it. If i do that im for sure just going to use it as a third monitor for my PC for games or anime. Might get a better sound system for it after that.

I've started my cleanup by deciding what should go on my desk, and then designing a desk itself to accommodate that. If you would send me dimensions of your room, and general overview what you'd like to have on your desk I can design it for you my friend

ohh uhh my rooms dimensions, umm.. not even i know exactly how big my room is

Gotta ask my dad if he knows, to bad its currently 3:12 am.

 

Id say its ROUGHLY like 7x8m / 9x10m on the floor, tho i got a tilted roof so about 1m from the floor the walls starts to tilt inwards (this is what most annoying as i cant put my desk exactly towards the wall. Id also say i have around 5-6m up to the roof (in the middle of the room). As i said previously, i have a pretty big room, in fact - i got the biggest room in my entire house!

But of course, as it can bring joy, it also brings me pain. My room REALLY likes to produce dust. Like its a dust-factory! I can vaccum and dust my entire room and it will be just as dusty a day or two after. 

 

The room also gets really hot during the summer, and with such bad airflow it can sometimes become unbearable. I can open both of my windows and turn on my big ceiling fan and it wont help AT ALL.

Oh damn that will be hard. I dont think i got any photos of my room laying around and my lamp broke a few weeks ago and ive been to lazy to get new bulbs, so its currently in complete darkness. I could possibly try and make a overview sketch in paint or something.

 

And yeah the only thing ive liked about my room is how big and VR-friendly it is. A bit sad that i dont even own a VR-headset to begin with but its always nice to have a good room for it if i ever get one.

Aight ill try and get some refrence pics. Tho i did try and make one in paint. Might not say much but i at least tried with my magical drawing skills.

I'm preparing first draft (ok 3rd to be honest:P ) and then it hit me. You've said that the room is really high - up to 5-6m. Thats the hight of two storeys. How about moving the bed to the entresol, and use the supports as a part of the settup? I know - it's a very expensive idea, but hey - dream big!  

Pros for that are that supports can hold a lot of shelfs, that would be accessible from both sides - so once someone enter you room it can be a showcase of your cool items.

That is really amazing, but then again, my wall tils inward the higher up you get because of the roof. So I cant really have anything up high unless its standing in the middle of the room. Could try and get some reference pictures now.

sure, with reference pic will be easier. Still entresol is possible (I had one in my room as a kid) i even with "just 4meter high" room - you use just mattress as a bed and still have about 1,2 meter above your head (still safe if you invite your girlfiend IFYWIM  )
