Hello All,

I am not very knowledgeable with tech/computers and I could really use some assistance.

I have been trying to install an AMD RX 470 into a Dell OptiPlex 5050 with an Intel i5 7500 and windows 10. The computer wont boot into windows with the graphics card installed. It gets stuck at the Dell logo screen indefinitely upon startup. This occurs with the monitor connected to the HDMI out of the motherboard. I get no video signal from the port on the graphics card. I bought the card second hand on ebay, I'm not sure if it is working or if there's something wrong with it. I have upgraded the power supply to a EVGA W3 450 watt psu.

Here's what I have tried so far.

  • Disabled integrated graphics
  • Disabled secure boot
  • Updated BIOS
  • I tried booting the computer with the card in the slot but no power connected to it from the PSU. The computer will boot into windows but no device is found in device manager with "show hidden devices" enabled.

Any suggestions on how I might be able to get this working? Could the card be dead?

Thanks to anyone that can assist.
