Suggestion - disabling sidebar components

I apologize if there is already something like this or if it has already been suggested. I was thinking it could be nice to disable some things in the sidebar such as the videos and status updates to show more topics. I've already watched the videos through YouTube and almost never find new ones through the forum (and I would think many other people would agree), and I usually don't look at status updates from people I'm not following. But being able to choose how much of the sidebar is dedicated to new topics I think would be good.

If you want to see more recent topics, you can view the Recent Topics activity stream, but it's not feasible for the sidebar to be customizable per person.
