Budget (including currency): $200

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft server

I've spent the last day or two trying to put together a cheap Minecraft server. This'll be the last time I gunk up your feed with my dumb questions, I swear!

I have chosen a CPU, a motherboard, a video card, a cooler, and RAM that I believe is compatible. Looking for someone to confirm for me.

CPU: Intel Xeon e5-1620 v2
Motherboard:  JGINYUE X79 LGA2011 Motherboard

GPU: Radeon HD 8490 1GB
Cooler: Intel BXTS13A Thermal Solution
RAM: Micron 32GB ECC Registered DDR3-1600 RDIMMs

I'm not 100% certain that those motherbaords support the v2 line of CPU's, but it's certainly worth a shot. All in all everything look solid.

EDIT: That CPU has a really high TDP for only be a quad core and that cooler may have a hard time keeping it cool. Looking at this list

https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xeon_microprocessors

and see if you can find one that's similar at a lower TDP.

The compatibility list says that it supports C2 and V2 variants of the Xeon e5 v2 line, so I believe I should be good to go in that department.

The cooler I chose was specifically meant to cool server CPUs. It's basically a roided Intel stock cooler.

I *think* it will be fine. Someone in the reviews says that it keeps their 6850K at 55 degrees on the hottest core. The 6850K not only has two extra cores, but a 10W higher TDP.

I used something similar to that for an old 4core 8thread CPU, I don't remember what model but that cooler is pretty much the "stock" cooler for those 1366 processors so it should go fine.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

No do not get the 1620 v2, it is locked so youll have to get a 6 core cpu

But i guess if you dont wanna mess around with bios modding its decent

I did end up getting the 1620 V2 because I am too scared of bricking the Chinese board with BIOS found on a Russian website... heh.

Welp atleast its still decent in terms of clocks, tbh you will need to bios mod these chinese boards to oc unlocked 16xx series xeons properly

Oh and im pretty sure miyconst a ytuber that messes around with x79 and x99 has some bioses for these chinese boards and i think he even has some modded bioses so you dont have to deal with amibcp

Idk where the site is to download amibcp but i already have amibcp v3 v4 and v5 so if you need to bios mod i can send you the amibcp files
