is this a good amount of thermal paste?

26 minutes ago, CryingWimp said:

Because its partially squished, it is very hard to tell from that picture.

It appears to be a bit too little though IMO

Im just gonna ask because i don't really know if this could be a problem or not, since i put a blob of thermal paste on the CPU and let the AIO rest on the CPU making the thermal paste kinda squish a bit, that won't ruin the spread when i fully screw in the AIO right?聽

Ideally you try not to, just so dirt or a potential bubble doesn't get trapped. Realistically, it is unlikely to cause any issues.

I would not reuse paste however, after applying the proper tension the paste is spread very thin. When you put them back together it is a lot more likely to trap bubbles because there is not enough paste to spread them out. There can also be spots that now don't have enough paste.

Realistically, behind all of this talk, if my temps seem ok and everything seems to be working fine, should i be worried? Should i 100% check to see if it spread well and possibly re-apply the thermal paste?

If your temps are good, 0 issues happened. All the talk is how to avoid potential issues.

Sometimes it is hard to tell if you did it right unless you have another attempt to compare temps. Maybe it聽could be a few C cooler.

As i have said before i don't really know what good temps mean so i'm going to ask for your opinion. As i have stated my 5900x running at 4.5 GHz @ 1,2125V after 40 minutes in realbench gets up to about 85c-86c.In any cinebench run it gets up to 74c-75c.In videogames if it's really intensive it probably climbs up to 65c and if it's not that intensive then probably 55-60c.Idle i get about 47-48c.And ambient temp being about 25-27c.

The temps are pretty good 47c idle,74c in a cinebench run and about 85c after 40 minutes of realbench.

Honestly.. I wouldn't call those good. Maybe good in the sense it wont die.. but still seems pretty warm for what you are doing. Your machine is @ stock clocks right?

Well "great"聽is subjective.馃ぃ Some people don't like to be over 65c at load.

75c in Cinebench at 4.5GHz on a 5900x does not appear that something is malfunctioning or improperly installed. Without a reapplication there is no way for us to know if you potentially could be a few degrees higher than you otherwise could be due to a less than adequate thermal paste application.

"Good" would聽probably have been a better word. My point was聽that with those temps everything is "great",聽as in your well within safe limits and nothing appears to be improperly installed or malfunctioning. No problems聽is great聽馃槄聽your temps are normal.

If your at all worried, sometime when your board,聽repaste.

Before this current application of my thermal paste i had 2 other applications one both in different application styles and all 3 of them including the current application of thermal paste聽were doing the same temps in gaming and in cinebench
