iirc U.2 is not compatible with SATA and SAS so it won't work. You'll need an add-in card with SATA ports or SAS if you need more SATA ports.

I'm trying to add more storage using the Turbo U.2 (SFF-8639) port on my motherboard, MSI Gaming M7 Z270. I'm wondering if I could use a SFF-8643 to SATA x4 forward breakout cable for this and attach 4x1TB HDD to it.
