Linux Installation through adapter

I want to install linux to my laptop with a usb drive. My laptop does not have a type a port so I am getting a type c to type a adapter.  Am I able to boot from that usb drive when I have the adapter?  I do not want to get the adapter then not have it work

       Pumas.EXE has stopped responding...

The ability to boot from USB is something that's quite old and completely ubiquitous. The most recent computer I've used that lacked that feature was from 2001. If your laptop has USB-C, it must have the ability to boot from USB. If not, I'd be absolutely flabbergasted.

Yes. The adapter has nothing to do with being able to boot from USB.
