Install Google Chrome if you haven't already done so and use its built-in screen casting/mirroring feature, there are probably other 3rd party software out there that could help you do this, although casting through Google Chrome is officially supported by Google for best reliability and what I personally use.

oh, one needs to use chrome?

It seems like it will adjust youtube too, for it.

I don't get it, why is it not built into youtube or work like the app does?

Is it mostly to make people download chrome?

Besides Chrome, VLC has plugin for it.

 

There's also some paid software, but sadly I can't recall it (might need to ask my brother as it was his friend I saw using it). Apparently it's main purpose is to make Chromecast act like additional monitor.

If you want your PC to be a Chromecast source @Boomwebsearch is right about using chrome.

 

If you want it to be a destination, I use https://www.airserver.com/PC. It works really well for me.
