Budget: $5000AUD($3793.50US)

So I'm currently looking at buying and building my first proper PC for gaming and general use, and what better place to find advice then right here.

I live in Australia atm.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X-$439
  • Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F-$219
  • RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2x16GB)-$279              (Should I just get 2x8GB?)
  • SSD: Kingston SKC2500M8 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe-$125
  • Case: Corsair 4000D Tempered Glass Mid-tower ATX Case-Black-$105
  • Power Supply: Corsair RM750x 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular ATX Power Supply-$139
  • CPU Cooler: Cool Master Hyper 212 LED Turbo ARGB-$69
  • Graphics Card: Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TI TUF OC 12GB Gaming (If I can get one of course)-$3,049.00
  • Keyboard: Kingston HyperX Alloy Origins Core
  • Mouse: Razer Viper 8KHz Ambidextrous Optical

Some suggestions would be great in areas I can drop costs would be good, as well as some ideas on some monitors.

Cheers

Sooo, you're looking to drop cost, and the huge looming question is what are you going to use a $3700 PC for?

If I can drop costs I will but I have a bit to throw around and it's just a plan rn.

Mostly for gaming and some editing, is it overkill??

(Sorry if the post was a bit confusing)

So, how about this: How long do you want your computer to last? Or, more importantly, how long must it be able to last? Yes, this system is overkill, but if you, say, render for a job, having components like this might be important.

What is your target resolution for playing these games? 1080p? 1440p? 4K? What games are you playing?

Replace the ssd with a cheaper option like an sn550 or sn750

Rgb is not worth the extra markup, just get a fuma 2 or an aio

5600x is solely for gaming, 5800x def gonna need it, and once gpu prices tank you might wanna get a 5900x for editing and heavy cpu workloads.

Otherwise decent build

Probably about 5+ years longevity and I do plan on rendering. I don't want to feel like I have any restrictions when it comes to how I utilise it and play games, I'd like to just boot something up and play at the most enjoyable standard, 4K would be nice.

I think we'll be dead by the time I'm staring at reasonable GPU prices in Australia

Then a computer like this makes tons of sense for "I want to be able to buy a game without thinking about if I can run it or not".

So, the things I would change... I'd get a Noctua NH-D15 Chromax instead of the Hyper 212. You won't believe how much quieter that is in comparison, and it does a much better job of cooling. The cooler *will* fit inside that case.

Get a cheaper SSD as well. For the price of that 500GB SSD, you can get a 1TB from Western Digital.

That will have your price a little more expensive (the cooler is quite expensive), but you will appreciate the installation of the cooler being much easier and if you just need 500GB of storage, you could save money by getting a 500GB WD.

You can also save tons of money getting normal DIMMs instead of rainbow vomit RAM.
