Is the Sigma 18-35 worth the price tag? Thats my question and also should I get a 1.4 prime over it? Or would the quality of it be good enough to match a prime almost (I know primes are still way better then)

Also how would a cine 35mm t1.5 DS stack up to it?

Well, right now the only pro lens (over 500$ price tag) I have is the Sigma 18-35 F1.8.

Before I bought the lens, I did a lot of researches and all the reviewers said the quality is very good (Comparable to prime lens or GM, L series lens) (Some video creators also use this lens as well)

My thoughts of the lens:

Benefits:

Very good quality, chromatic aberration isn't too much of an issue

No moving focus rings

The lens quality itself is extraordinary (Made out of metal, feels very, very nice)

Downsides:

Autofocusing is audible (Not too much with external Mic)

Autofocusing is not the best in the world (A bit slow... faster than some old STM lenses I'll say(like 18-55))

Very Heavy

Only APSC compatible (unless using crop modes on FF Cameras)

Some distortion can be observed (excepts 24mm)

Asus NUC: CPU:i7-4600u | ram: ddr3l 4GB x 2 | ssd: 256GB | Network: RJ45 port, wifi 802.1 ac | usb: USB Gen3 x 4 | SD: SD port x1 | Display: HDMI x1, DP x1| GPU: Intel Graphics 4400 @ 1100Mhz |

The downsides that you make are not my concerns I use a Canon M50, I never used the internal mic on my camera and if I do I will cut out the audio.

I dont mind of having a heavy camera. And Distortion is the only tiny problem.

Yes, and that was the reason why I bought the lens, not using the mic itself in the cam and distortion can be fixed.

Though the weight can be a bit of problem for me...

Would buying a nd fader with it be a good idea?

Do you need nd filters? Do you have too much light? If you have too much lens you need a nd filter normally as you don't want to have a short shutter speed for video, and don't want to stop down the lens too much(past around f8-11) as it gets less sharp

Yeah, I do because just did a long exposure today (I do video and photos) And I couldn't close down my 15-45 enough to still be sharp and get that glossy river with the exposure time. So I said to hell with it and closed down to f40. Started driving back to my house realizing that pinhole lenses are super not sharp and they are around f50. Editing I realized I screwed up but I still had some other nice pictures to go with luckily C :. I also like shallow depth of field. Also im hitting the limit again better stop for now : D image.png.a9fbce1a9392cd215521e95fa875bc7f.png
