hey guys, I am an IT guy at a local restoration shop, we just had a network outage for 3 days during this past weekend, does anyone know of any software to constantly ping between my shop and my home and if either goes down the one still up will notify me of an outage

No, but it is simple to make a Bash shell (Linux) / Power shell (Windows) script, or a tiny java program for that task

I'm guessing you don't have static IPs at those locations, so Dynamic DNS and script to update it would also be needed.

PRTG sounds like it would work.

PRTG Network Monitor is also available as freeware with 100 sensors. Just download the PRTG trial and it automatically reverts to the free version after 30 days. If you want to monitor more than 100 sensors, you will need to upgrade to a commercial version. If you don't upgrade, you can continue using the free version without any time limit.
