I have a question about the location about the screw holes on PCI riser cables.
Are these universal? or does every case/cable have different positions.

I have an Corsair 5000x and want to use a riser, but for some reason the official corsair cables will take at least a month to get here.
So i was wondering if i can use a different brand.

Im assuming you are doing a sideways mounted or whatever its called graphics card.

No point in doing that other than looks, itll work fine as is anyways so better to just wait for your cosmetic to arrive rather than buying new sht and having your computer malfunction or catch fire xD

Or at the very least have massive headaches due to incompatibility or other annoying things

I don’t think there is an official standard which makes things quite iffy because they could even look the same but be off by half a mm which could be enough for a new cable not to fit.  Also there are a lot of riser cables that simply don’t work.  You kind of need to have good ones so it would be likely more than $50 just to get something that is safe.  Corsair will have tested theirs though.  It’s just a better idea to use the ones designed for the application.  there is always putting it in the normal way until the cables arrive.  You can at least get it to work.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

The risers themselves are fairly universal. The problem is how it's supposed to be mounted to the case. Different brands use different plastic around the riser and can use different mounting holes. Here's a Phanteks compared to a general one.
