Im sorry for starting this same topic a second time, but when I thought the issue was resolved it came back, more annoying than ever. Basically when doing really heavy tasks, like editing 4k on davinci resolve, sometimes my computer randomly disconnects a hard drive or the screen goes black and I have to manually switch it off and on. It appears as it is random which drive it disconnects, sometimes its a drive that I only use to store non-important files, other times when the computer just crashes, my guess being that it disconnected the C drive. Its an entire new system so I'm kinda lost on where to start. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Recently it also started rarely doing the same turning off screen behaviour when playing valorant. The drives are running on two different psu harness.

My specs:

  • Woindows 10 64 bit
  • Gigabite b450 Aorus Elite (bios version F53)
  • AMD Ryzen 3600
  • 2x8GB Gskill Trident Z (3000MHz XMP Profile 1)
  • Radeon RX580 8GB SAPPHIRE Nitro+
  • Samsung 860 500GB SSD
  • WD black 1TB
  • WD blue  500 GB
  • Hitachi 500 GB
  • Seasonic M12II 620W EVO EDITION

Are all your drives on the same SATA harness from the PSU. Try splitting them up, it could be a power issue.

wait, I thought this was familiar, guess that didn't fix it XD

May next guess is it could be the SATA controller on the board overheating or not being able to handle 4 drives simultaneously for some reason. Short of disconnecting some drives or plugging in some drives via a USB SATA adapter I don't really know what else to try.

why no dark mode?

Hey Mnky! Thanks again for the fast answer. I already tried disconnecting some drives, thinking initially that it was a foulty drive causing some weird things on the system, but even with only the ssd running windows and the wd black (which was my old setup before updating the computer) the problem persists. Also I should add that after that I checked the status of my drives and they all appear healthy.

Interesting, maybe a drive issue? Have you tried updating/re-installing chipset/RAID drivers?

Im going to try that! Also, I tried dropping the xmp profile on the ram and it did not help unfortunately. I'll update if it persists.

Well, unfortunately that didn't fix it. Also I tried removing one of the 2 ram modules, just to check if maybe it was the ram that was causing this anomaly, but alas, it keeps happening. I'm completely at a loss here, it gets so annoying to get random reboots when editing footage. Any idea is appretiated!
