Hello there,

fIrst post of mine although I am following LTT for years now and loving the quality content.

I realize that in recent videos Star Citizen gets mentioned alot and you also got your "LTT Conglomerate" org running for the game. Too late for me as I am already an Imperium Officer but anyways good job there.

Currently with the DFM on the horizon this month there is still not much hard data around regarding possible performance of the DFM. Just some very vague statements on rough recommendations based on other Cryengine titles performance.

I think it would be awesome if Linus Tech Tips could get a Pre-Version of the DFM a few days before the rest of us and test it on different hardware. That way backers like me who purposely held back on their latest PC upgrade for the release of this title could make better educated decisions on this months upgrade.

I know that you had some contact with CIG before so maybe you could be so bold as to reach out to them and make the offer of doing this. If you didn't already that is of course. I know who am I to propose something like that here but myself and probably lots of other SC backers would really appreciate some content like that. And what could happen except CIG saying No but you might have a serious chance there that they don't. Sometimes you just have to be bold.

Anyway that is really all I have to say, keep up the good work and CU in the verse.

Regards,

Chris aka CyberianK

Welcome, don't forget to read the CoC.There, you'll see : "Do not manually type in a signature or sign-off at the end of every post; signatures are only allowed using the built-in signature function".

Just don't use it all the time.I guess it's ok to use it as an introduction. ;)

LinusTech Slick

This is a really good idea if they could make it happen. Linus met Chris Roberts at one point (and totally fangirled out), so maybe he could get something. :D

For my pertinent links to guides, reviews, and anything similar, go here, and look under the spoiler labeled such. A brief history of Unix and it's relation to OS X by Builder.

Yes! I have wanted that added to the CoC for awhile. It annoys me so much!

But yes this seems do able seeing as we are the second of third largest organization overall. I'd love to see if this is do-able or not.

Thanks,

you made me read the CoC now :)

I leave it in the OP for introduction purposes but refrain from using it in any future posts.

As to the topic I agree to Vitalius. I got the impression that CR might respect Linus and his work as he stated he follows him on YT. And with CRs general attitude I feel that there is a decent chance of success. Of course there might be some technical or production reason that might prevent this but I see no harm in trying.

Interesting proposition OP. Lets see how this goes, I'd like to see something like this too.

I've been part of Valinor Aerospace for a while now, the LTT Conglomerate was made a bit too late for me to join.

Nice for Valinor being here too. I think the number of hardware enthusiasts is very big in SC community so it would be a natural move for LTT doing this. If it can be done awesome, if not we probably get some tests after release. But alot of backers will already have bought their new hardware by then. As for myself I will make the purchase of my new GPU 1-5 days before actual release of the DFM. Currently that option would be a 780 Ti but I am not very happy with that currently:

-snip-

Lol I have yet to get new hardware in preparation for the game. Still rocking this GTX 460 with lifetime warranty.... I'll grab a better card some time down the road.
