Hi Everyone,

Hope you are doing well. Hoping someone can help me with a really strange problem I am having.

I recently moved and I finally got around to setting up my computer today. When I started it up, it took 5+ minutes to load the task bar. During this time I could open task manager but couldn't open the start menu or any other programs other than command prompt. After an hour of troubleshooting I finally narrowed it down to the Xbox wireless adapter I am using. It seems like the wireless adapter is causing the whole system to freeze up on startup.

I have one of the Xbox series x controllers with the wireless PC adapter. I have never had issues with this adapter before on this system. Anyways, if I unplug the adapter and restart my PC it starts up completely normal. I tried to update the driver through device manager but it is saying the newest driver is installed. Obviously I can unplug the adapter every time I start up my computer, but this is not the ideal solution, especially because it was working before.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could fix this? Or has anyone else ran into this issue?

Thanks.

The thing about moving is stuff tends to rattle around. I usually associate really slow windows behavior with HD issues.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
