I recenly bought a HP pavilion gaming laptop (15-ec1020nl, official info about the computer), it was shipped with 2x4gb 3200mhz sticks, I wanted to upgrade to 2x8gb so I bought a Balistix kit on Amazon, it has arrived and on the "box" it states that it was a 3200mhz kit. When I put it in the laptop tho, it was showing them as 2667mhz. I tried putting the old ones back in and they still are shown as 3200, any idea? If more information is needed, just ask for it. The cpu is an AMD 4800h, yes, it supports 3200mhz ram. I tried using the AMD Ryzen master software but it says my cpu isn't supported so I can't use that to tweak values. Since the computer is a budget gaming laptop its bios doesn't have many options and i don't think I saw the xmp option at all, plus I found a post about it in the HP forums that says that it actually doesn't have it but, I mean, it actually wouldn't change anything since the other sticks run at 3200mhz, any idea?

The RAM you bought only supports 3200 MHz through an XMP profile at 1.35 volts. DDR4 standard memory voltage is 1.2V. The laptop might not support XMP profiles or running memory at 1.35V, in which case it uses the JEDEC profile, that the memory is configured for.

If the BIOS does not have an option for XMP, then you can either keep running at 2666/2667 MHz or buy memory, that has a JEDEC profile for 3200 MHz at 1.2 V and not through XMP.

I ended up returning them and bought a Crucial 3200mts kit which works at 3200mhz out of the box.

I’m looking for another way because not only is it a little bit more expensive but it is also Cl22 meanwhile the Ballistix are Cl16
