2700x Bottleneck

Hi guys,

So ive been using my 3080 for a while now and games arent really performing how i expect them to. I have noticed that at this point my 2700x creates a small bottleneck and i was thinking of getting a 5600x. Is this a big upgrade? Thanks!

according to

, possibly up to 2-30fps difference if 1080p or 1440. 4k, will be no difference

Hmmm... How much is it compared to your expectations and other people results?

maybe compare to actual reviews instead of "thinking" that it should run on 144 fps

in most games im not getting full gpu usage as my cpu usage spikes. games such as apex i hardly ever have a stable 144fps

if you also do things that require a lot of core like in your current 2700x

you'd probably better using a 5800x but if majority use case of your pc 5600x theoretically it should be fine i guess

also out of curiosity what is your overall system spec

Just chasing an arbitrary number.

If you where doing competitive 1080P, maybe you want high fps then and a cpu upgrade would improve this situation better.

My 2700X drives an RTX 2060 at 4k. We just don't watch the counter and it's fine. But pretty much 60fps gaming. I don't expect more from this. I would need a 3080 then... which is better suited for 4k.

is the cpu usage really high? like 80+

changing to 5600x or 5800x could help but i suggest you to watch some review or comparison

but a 3080 for 1080p is kinda overkill and stepping it up to 1440p or even 4k will bring most of that gpu power

when under load, certain of the cpu's do hit over 80, sometimes over 90. I do game at 1440p so the cpu will still have an impact i presume.

You'll never be completely free of some kind of bottleneck - ultimately it's the question of if you are satisfied with your performance or if you feel the drops are enough to disrupt your experience.
