shortcuts to boot drive don't have my saves

VeroVex

So when I built my rig back in september, i had set up a 1tb hdd as an everything drive, and put everything on the same partition because i didn't think to seperate boot and files. Anyways, i just got an ssd, installed windows, and put all my shortcuts on my desktop that direct to my hdd games. Windows is still on the hdd by the way. I open one of my games, and my save isn't there. i check all my other games, nothing. does anybody know why this is happening?

AMD Ryzen 3 3200g

XFX xxx ed rx 580 8gb

Because the game expects the save files to be in the C drive and it has it's directories set up as such. And now that your C drive is the ssd and it lacks the save data it searches for, it just doesn't show up. Either change where it should look for saves if possible, or move the save files to where they normally would be.

my ssd is now my c drive, and my hdd is now my d drive. i'm like 80% confident that my hdd was my c: drive before. can i just change the lettering of the drives? sorry if this is a stupid question i suck with storage mediums

Yes, that's what I was mentioning before

no, the C drive will always be the drive with the OS on it. So if you're booting Windows of your SSD, then your SSD will be your C drive, if you boot of the HDD, then it will become the C drive. There's no way to change that.

It varies on a game by game basis. you should be able to find out yourself by searching on google  "(game name) save location"
