Can my cpu handle 2 gpus?

I have a i5 9400f and a gtx 1650. I was thinking of getting a motherboard with 2 gpu slots and pairing my current gpu with a low end one like a gtx 970 or rx 570. Will nvidia and amd run together? Can my cpu handle both?

i heard yes though you may run into issues

 

i only experienced using multiple of one brand of GPU, namely Nvidia, and it is fine

i have an old gt 1030 so maybe i can use that.

Because your system will just use one card for gaming. Gpu's don't magically work together.

 

Sli and crossfire allowed 2 identical cards that supported it to work together in supported games but those have been killed off as it was a pain and just had plenty of problems. That and basically nobody uses it + barely any games supported it anymore.

 

So to say it again for gaming a secondary card will do NOTHING but sit there consuming power.

Unless you have a specific reason why, it's generally not a great idea to have multiple cards in a system
