Budget (including currency): $3000 CAD, can go up to $4000 but would prefer to keep it closer to the $3000 limit.

Country: Canada (Alberta)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AutoCAD, Inventor, misc game examples being Satisfactory, 7DtD, DSP, Valheim.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Parts I will be moving forward for now are my GPU (1080ti), power supply EVGA 750 watt, 4 DDR4 8gig 3200 MHz sticks. Everything else needs replacing including case. Peripherals are not needed.

I don't really care about RGB or looks just functionality, however I would enjoy a USB-C front header and would prefer to avoid AIO's.

EDIT: Also wonder if its worth it to wait and see what these new Intel CPUS's are like with the DDR5 support. If possible I would like this new build to hold me 4 years similar to my last build so future proofing would be nice.

What are your current specs? Just as a frame of reference (mainly the cpu).

CPU: Intel i7-7700K CPU

Motherboard: MSI Gaming M7 ( Upgrading due to progressive failure of this part.)
GPU: 1080ti (Plan on replacing this down the line but due to current events it will work for now)

RAM: Corsair 8gig 3200MHz x4 (I think its the Vengeance series. Black sticks either way)
Boot Drive: Intel 760P Series SSD

Power Supply: EVGA 750watt

Case: Corsair ? (Similar looking to 5000D)

Is there a current performance issue with it? Part from well dying board. If not a simple board swap will do the trick and allow you to go for a true next gen upgrade.

Currently the issue is just the dying board. Would it be worth it to either wait for the intel release later this year or the next AMD zen's? Always warry of constantly waiting for that next big tech release but if it's worth it then I could do that.

It does make sense to wait if the current cpu is good enough. More so to prevent being on now end of life platforms. Since you can basically take everything you want to take with you to am5 already.

For 2400 USD you can basicly got a Ryzen 9 5950x with a sick X570 Motherboard in it. And reusing your PSU and Ram maybe not a bad idea either

Here's my build for 2400 w/o ram or psu: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f7M4fP (The Case Support for Type C Plug, yeah it is with RGB goodness)

But if you want you can wait another few year just to get the better timing, Because building a PC Nowadays can be rough, Especially with these semiconductor Shortage and mining boom

Think that's what I'm going to do for now. Thank you for your previous suggestion though!

No need to go expensive again tho. Plenty of good used boards for under 100 that are really good.
