Hello new poster here but I am at a wits end trying to deal with this issue. It started with the latest nvidia driver. Somehow it will no longer recognize my 120hz display only maxing out at 60hz. Then it started flickering on files and I have since rolled back to a driver that I new worked along with doing a complete reinstall of windows and using Display Driver Uninstaller to completely remove any traces on previous drivers. I am at my absolute wits end and have exhausted all options including taking it out and putting it back in. The monitor is Freesync compattible but not Gsync. In addition on the file explorer the icons flicker.

However this has never proven to be an issue before. here is a video showing the issue.

are you connected to the HDMI port or displayport? Also there are some factors:

a. manufacturers limit HDMIs to have some absurd limitations, like bruh I love how my viewsonic XG204 can run 144hz via HDMI and manufacturers limit HDMI connection in 144hz monitors to either 1080p 60hz or 120hz
b. Might have to do with certain handshakes of the protocols, causing this issue
c. certainly drivers acting up in a way, either the monitor or a gpu issue as well.

you might need to install an older driver and then report the issue to Nvidia see if they know anything, or if the nvidia community know anything. and also check where it's connected.

Make sure to quote me if you want me to respond
Thanks :)

Sorry this is kind of embarrassing but it seems to have magically started working on its own with no explanation.

Let me guess you turned off your pc, switched the power button to off and started your pc the next morning?

No I was using it and decided to just check it. Low and behold it suddenly with no explanation after two days of trying to fix it started working again. I have a degree it IT so I tried everything I could think over before posting on the forum. No idea why it suddenly decided to start working.
