HDD Dissappeared

I bought a new 2TB HDD this week. I Installed it, checked the connections, & it showed up to be initialized/mounted. Then after a restart its gone, no drive letter, nothing. It shows up in BIOS but that's about it.

I have tried:

• updating/uninstalling drivers
• disk management
• hardware troubleshooting
• plugging in the sata cable when windows loads

This happened to my friend.  Faulty drive.  BIOS only checks for a few minimal aspects, OS checks for a lot more before declaring it exists.
