MSI MPG Motherboard not recognizing M.2 Drive

LaneMande

Been trying to fix this for several days. I cannot get my MSI MPG B550 motherboard to recognize my Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 Drive. I tried both slots M2_1 and M2_2. It is showing on the MSI motherboard setup but not in ACHI or Settings.

Tried to install Windows creation but am guessing that will not be possible until a drive shows up. Adding a Seagate BarraCuda 4TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch Sata once it arrives today but that is just for backup.

I am finding this problem on some forums with no solutions so far.

M2_1 is the sole Gen.4 slot, but that's academic.

Does the machine boot to a "boot device not found" screen, at all, even with no Windows installed?

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

NO boot device not found screen. It goes straight to the MPG Bios screen. If I press the power off button it restarts to BIOS. If I unplug the computer I need to reset the CMOS.

I know that's gen 4 PCIE, but what happens if you go to gen 3 compatibility mode? If that works, you might be able to install and boot off that, updated drivers and anything and then give gen 4 another shot.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Try reseating the m.2 & the RAM... make sure the RAM is in the orange slots as shown in pic #2 above.
