Do I need to upgrade?

Hey guys, I upgraded a lot of parts in my system the last couple of months and I was looking on the box of my graphics card that I’ve had in my computer for a while and just noticed it required a 500W psu, I took out my psu and it’s a EVGA 80plus bronze 450W psu. Is it necessary to upgrade? Thanks.

What does the rest of your system look like? What's the CPU? How many drives do you have? What type of drives are they?

 

Also important, do you intend to overclock either the CPU or the graphics card?

1- It would be very nice to know your full specs
2- There are lots of 450W bronze EVGA PSUs, for example: EVGA B, BR, BT, BV, B3 and so on... so...

Which EVGA 450W 80+ Bronze PSU from EVGA are u talking about?

I have a Radeon RX580, Ryzen 5 3600, 1TB Hard drive, and 256gb ssd

As long as you don't plan on OCing, you should be okay.

The reference RX580 actually recommends a 450W PSU, so as long as you don't use an OC, you should be fine.

Ok thanks, it’s just the box for the card I had, said I needed it, it’s a Sapphire and it says my 580 is OC

The vast majority of graphics cards that "recommend" a 500 watt power supply typically reside in a system that consumes no more than 300 watts.

That card might have a factory OC, but considering that you have a R5 3600 as your CPU, it should be fine. I'd imagine Sapphire is just being conservative, and might have considered that a higher power CPU (like an i7 or R7) could be paired with an RX 580, so they recommended a 500W instead of a 450W.
