I've been trying to install windows from a usb stick for a day and can't get it to work.

I've have a product key for both 7 and 8 but no cd. I'm using a mac and i've tried using bootcamp assistant to create a bootable usb, it've tried dd'ing a variety of ISO's an IMG's and they either just show a blank screen with a blinking white underscore or don't even boot at all.

My hard drive is running Ubuntu, i would try it with a clean hard drive but i don't know how to format it without a different OS.

Could it be my Usb stick, my motherboard, something to do with my BIOS? i spent hours messing with the bios boot settings to no avail; i'm really stick.

Make sure the USB is under 32GB and format it to FAT32. If you cannot format it to FAT32 then look at this:http://www.wikihow.com/Format-FAT32

I had this problem when installing Ubuntu and using the info from the link I got it working, but not sure if it works for Windows.
