Some Function Shortcuts not working

Today I noticed that my volume down and brightness up/down function shortcut buttons weren't working on my Lenovo laptop. All the other function shortcut keys work as well as all the function keys. Tried updating windows and keyboard drivers/resetting keyboard settings to default with no fix. Any help would be appreciated.

Age of the machine is not known so it could possibly be just a wear issue.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
