L4D2 / Portal on Linux

So recently Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal (both beta) came out for Steam on Linux.

I just installed it (L4D2 is friggin' 12 GB) and I have noticed some weird performance behaviors.

I have a HD 7750 with the AMD Catalyst 13.4 drivres on Ubuntu-Gnome 13.04. On windows I 

have around 150 fps with Maximum details on 1080p, on Linux I get everything from 10 to 100 fps.

(Same for Portal)

Have you tried any games from Steam on Linux yet?
