Budget (including currency): 550 EUR (willing to spend a bit more)

Country: Netherlands

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly work (browsers, office, some light photoshop), need a new PC because my current PC can't stream high def music while working.

Other details I have a Seagate Barracuda ST4000DM005 4 TB I can use as big storage next to an SSD

Hi! New to the forums but long time Linus fan. I hope I can get some help with buying a new PC.

I need a new computer because my 6 year old XPS13 is causing problems now and then. My main problem right now is that streaming Qobuz and browsing the web makes my music stutter, which is very annoying.

I have never build a PC, but am somewhat knowledgeable on the topic. Have been watching ~80% of linus video's for like 4 years now, but that is about all I know about computer hardware, if that is any indication.

What I am looking for is a PC which I can work on without any limitations (at least i5 or AMD equivalent). Another wish is that I can upgrade it with a current gen graphics card, although I probably won't do that as long as the shortages are here. I am not talking a 3090 or something. I have a PS5 for gaming, but I might wanna try some games on PC too.

I am willing to build my own pc, seems like a nice challenge, but I am a little bit afraid of the current prices with all the shortages. I was thinking about buying a used PC, and found this system. Combined with the above, is this a good deal?
The person selling has high karma on a local webpage I trust, so I am not too worried about that part. This computer seems quite future proof to me, but I am not too familiar in the motherboard part and memory. The Graphics card is an older one the seller put in, I think he is going to reuse the one he had installed initially.

Intel i5-10400F
Gigabyte Z490M
16GB Corsair LPX 3600C18
Deepcool Gammax VTE2 White
Asus GTX1050 Ti 4GB
Samsung EVO 870 500GB
Corsair CX450M voeding

His asking price is 550 Eur. Is that a decent deal for my use case? I could buy something with similar specs, and a newer graphics card (1650) for ~750, but that only has 8GB RAM, so I probably would need to add 8 GB RAM there.

Honestly, this is my first desktop in 10 years... so any comments / mistakes / whatever are welcome 🙂

Thank you for the reply.

What do you mean with " the Non-F CPU will help with troubleshooting and such if you need to, but is fully optional"

If I decide to upgrade GPU, a PSU is not too expensive is it? Can I add the Seagate HDD to this current system without problems?

The Non F CPU is fine. There are no performance decreases, it just doesn't have an integrated gpu

Yes u can add an HDD
and yes psus are affordable.

In the current market, thats a decent price for a pc

Big nerd.

Just did a bit of research what The F means. Since the sound production of the machine is important for me, do I understand correctly that the GPU will constantly be at work, and therefore the little fan on it might make quite a bit of sound constantly?

Your 1050 TI's sound will not be affected by whether your cpu has an integrated gpu or not

It's hard to tell, the website doesn't give much details (I couldn't figure out what motherboard or power supply was in there). From what I can tell it looks like a similar build to the one you mentioned earlier, just with a slightly more recent GPU. It looks fine to me, both builds will meet your expectations. But I don't know that it's worth paying an extra 150€ for the new one

Thanks for the reply.

Been doing quite a bit more research, and think I am not going to buy a medion. They have a pretty bad track record.

This has quite a bit more details, and is a better brand I think. Any idea if this could be upgraded with a GPU later on?
