Hi there, this weekend I'll be building my new PC. I've spent alot of time watching and reading about how m.2 works, the difference between the controller and NAND and how heat effects them differently.

I'll be using the heatsink my MB comes with on the WD 2tb m.2 but do I need to buy another heatsink, say for example a sabrent rocket heatsink, on my Samsung which will have my OS on it.

I've read both the pro's and negatives so was looking for some real world advise from people who have or haven't been using m.2 heatsinks daily and how it performs depending on temps.

Thanks in advance for any responses

I think the mb heatsink should be enough, if you're not running a hot ssd.

You can check the ssd temp with hwinfo64.

Performance wise, as long you don't reach the max temp (around 80c), the performance will be similar.

I keep my ssd cool at 40-50c with a cheap ass heatsink.
