I was slow to get on the SSD over HDD train and still not on the M.2 train even though my ASUS prime B550M-a supports PCI-e 4.0 M.2 sticks.

I'm looking to upgrade the storage in my PC I built a year ago and am looking into getting a Samsung 980 Pro 500GB stick and have seen videos where people use heatsinks for their modules.

Is this something I need to buy seperately?

Is it necessary if I'm running 1 or 2 of these samsung 980s?

You don't need a heat sink as long as you're not doing super long writes and the motherboard gets some air flow
