How is it with console releases that get ported to PC that controller support gets borked? Like if the game originally supported ONLY controllers, why is it that when you adpt it for PC that it just becomes almost unusable or disabled. (Black Ops 1 and Battlefront 2 respectively) Yes I know that keyboard-mouse is superior in every conceivable way, but I have no intention of trying to go pro or 360 no-scope noobs. I want the casual gaming experience and whoever is porting games from console to PC and having it be keyboard-mouse master race needs to figure out how to add keyboard-mouse support WITHOUT disableing or breaking controller support.

If there is someone out there with experience in the video game industry and can explain why this happens I'd really like to know why controller support for ported games has trouble working the way it should.

That's very vague. What exact issue are you having?

PC controller support is pretty universal these days.

What I encounter is controls that don't work or controls that are "bound" to an input like "dpad-up" that simply do not correlate to an in-game action. It's these two games specifically that I've had these issues with, 90% of the time it's totally fine. And it isn't like it's the gamepad compatibility being an issue, it's a genuine model 1914 from Microsoft....

Well I don't have a specific solution for those games.

But to answer your general question porting a game doesn't mean you just copy over some files. Significant portions of code have to be re-written which most probably includes something like the input system. So just because a game has perfect controller support on one platform doesn't mean it will on another.
