Budget (including currency): $1800 sgd

Country: Singapore

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: college student using ( probably school work, alot of games, a little porn, and video chats.) he's a medical science student.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

He had an old system but the cpu/motherboard as he said it (konked out and caught fire) the only 2 items he could save his ssds and his gtx 1080ti,we need to replace everything else.

The problem at hand now is he can't decide between the ryzen7 5800x or Intel i7 11700 (non k).

The specific product model/number. ”10700” is the SKU, and it's non-K.

Bad value and poor thermals, actually you can make the same argument for both chips. Difference is one has an... maybe passable stock cooler and integrated graphics, and the other one doesn't. OP, if you're looking for a chip with more cores, the 5900x is a far superior value, if you're just gaming/streaming the 11400 or 5600x should be totally fine. It doesn't seem like you'll/they'll need a chip with an especially high core count, I'd recommend going for the 11400.

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

I agree that there's better options than both, but I was making the call based on the two options presented.

Thank you for the suggestion, but from what I know of his work he does some calculations that is cpu intensive. And the 5900 is out of his budget seeing he only works part-time after classes.

Thanks.

The thing is both of those chips really suck value-wise. If he shells out $100 more, he'll get a far, FAR more superior cpu, and the 5600x/11400, those serve fine as budget options. he could also go for a 3700x/10700.

Lol it my be $100 in America but in Singapore it's $300.no 10 series chips or 3000 only 3900 x/3950x
