What are some good ways to get rid of the telemetry and bloat on windows 10?
Also should this be done by installing a custom ISO or by running a cleaning script post install?
Might update this post with the good suggestions, thanks in advance.

Please keep in mind:

I may be stupid.

There is custom ISOs that remove the bloat Windows 10 includes but idk if I can link it, what do you mean by telemetry exactly?

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Just now, Kaboom1 said:

Basically the parts of the OS that report to microsoft and give them data about the user.

I think the data tracking can be turned off to some degree

Ive recently tried to debloat windows and ive found a guy on youtube that helped a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E6OT_QcHaU&t=796s

The video is old but the website he linked is updated for 2021. He made a script for powershell to do basic debloating, like remove telemetry and uninstall some windows apps. Another more complicated option is to use Sophia script, its a lil more thorough, but more work to choose the options you want.(use the wrapper as well for easier selection) https://github.com/farag2/Windows-10-Sophia-Script I really needed this to get rid of My phone and all the xbox apps that came with windows and were useless.

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks for the responses
Here are the ones i think i can recommend, they're free and open

The first one does what it says on the tin, debloats and despooks windows, also has a nice GUI.

Sycnex's Windows10Debloater

The second one does basically the same thing as the first in addition it also offers installation of some programs through chocolaty.

ChrisTitus' win10script

I haven't used this last one so cannot comment on it, it's supposedly advanced.

farag2' Windows-10-Sophia-Script (Used to be called Setup script)
