Deciding between IPS monitors

Go to solution Solved by Demon2021,

Ended up buying the MAG251rx. The only "issue" im encountering is dark areas in the game are sometimes too dark, tweaking around in the settings helped though.

I'm trying to decide between three monitors which are MSI Optix G242, MSI Optix MAG251RX, and the Asus TUF Gaming VG259QM. The reason I want to buy a new monitor is for the IPS Display mainly. I consolidated my options to these for the size (24-25 inch), G-Sync Compatibility, and somewhat price. The MAG251RX is a bit more expensive but I included it because its the only other MSI monitor very similar to the G242 that is height adjustable (pretty important cause I have a low desk and generally having an adjustable monitor is just good), which leads me to ask can I replace the stand with an adjustable stand for the G242? Also I'm leaning towards MSI because of the frameless design. I'm just wondering anything I need to know about these monitors specifically and if they have any problems and possibly any other similar options I missed. I play WoW and wanted to experience the rich colors etc. of IPS Displays. Here is a link for the comparison of the three: https://www.displaydb.com/compare/msi-optix-g242/msi-optix-mag251rx/asus-tuf-gaming-vg259qm (most of the info there I don't really understand).

One possibility might be to find out what panels they have.  Neithe MSI or Asus make their own panels so they’re going to have been bought from another manufacturer.  Probably Samsung or LG.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

That sounds like a gamma setting.  Generally individual games will have the ability to set gamma so you can have it wherever for whichever game and it will change depending

Problem is I had the same game settings and everything was fine on my older monitor. I had to turn contrast a bit up, turn brightness down (I'm used to low brightness even with lights on), and turn up blue in color temperature up. Lastly, I turned on night vision to "Normal" (if i turn it too high it starts looking pale and the colours looked washed out) which did the trick to fix the dark areas. Then it start to look more like my older monitor. My older monitor still feels "softer" and easier on the eyes, im not sure what it is (older monitor is a VG248QE 144hz TN panel).

I use the "Eye saver" mode which is basically a blue light filter (the older monitor just had levels of blue light filter). I'm not sure on how true its benefits are but i feel it makes the screen easier on your eye.
