Stutters/Freezes/FPS drops while playing

Go to solution Solved by Pakwarrior,

I didn't ever played warcraft but i saw this game issue is its big in download size but from your question and experience i willl say it will be unoptimized game or like unoptimized for your system also if your gpu max temps is around 80 to 90 degrees then it will be thermal throttling issue and if cpu has more than 100 degree of capacity then it can be gpu issue check it throught msi afterburner

Tip if it is thermal throttling go to msi afterburner settings and go to fans option and select manual fan curve and set the graph line to 0% to 100% as like a slop in increasing like 0 to 100% what this will do it will sync the fans with gpu temps and then it will fix your temps issue if this not helping then bro its time to change the thermal pad or paste of your gpu if have warranty go to center or change it yourself cmon its not hard only if you dont have warranty other than that set cpu fans to 60% to 80% in game it will works the cpu to set in safe area and set ventilation fan speed to 40 to 50 or set it to that speed when you feels the fan is giving out huge amount of heat ok thats it this will definitely help you or if not then it is game issue not your system your system is already in top tier list so dont think about hardware for next  5 years ok.. bro

The past couple of the months I have been getting freezes/stutters/fps drops while playing world of warcraft. This usually happens when there is a lot of animations happening at the same time (usually in a raid, which means there is 19 other people casting spells, including the boss). I used to run the game at higher settings and encounter less of these issues back when I first bought the PC (around june 2020). I gradually had to reduce my settings to what it is now (basically everything on low/off at 1920x1080 resolution limited to 90 fps) because i started encountering more fps drops etc during intense gameplay. Also, when i was running those high settings the CPU/GPU did run hot (70+ C and would hit up to 80 C), which also why I lowered my settings.

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit (OS build: 19042.928)

Motherboard: B460M-K

CPU: i5-10600 (stock cooler)

GPU: ASUS Phoenix 2060

PSU: ThermalTake Smart RGB 700W

RAM: Crucial Ballistix 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3600 (its limited to 2660 cause of mobo)

Storage: Crucial P2 500GB PCIe M.2 2280 SSD and Seagate Barracuda HDD 2TB

Case: AeroCool Shard-G Mid Tower (1 exhaust and 3 intake which are basically blocked)

I just want to eliminate any of those issues and have constant/stable fps. I have the budget to upgrade whatever is needed (around 800$) but would prefer to possibly first see if there is an actual problem with my current setup (cooling issues etc.).

Edit: I have updated windows/gpu drivers constantly overtime

The temps are not as high now but I still get these problems sometimes, I will try it though and see how it goes.

Then it is the game issue so be fair set that experience as normal with you and play or delete the game thats it broo i dont think it is your hardware issue ( maybe try reinstalling windows i think you have ssd like obviously you have )

Thing is I didnt experience these issues before, and people I play with don't experience them at all. FPS drops are common however (in high animation density situations).

Try using a different DirectX API? I haven't played in a while but I know back then they allowed you to switch to an older version of DX.

EDIT: Looks like it's on DX12 currently, with an option to switch to DX11. You try switching from one to the other to see if it helps?

On a different note, should I upgrade the stock intel cooler to something better? This case only has space for tower coolers of sizes 155mm or less.

if the cpu is going to like  80 to 90 on every single task then its time other than else nope no need of it

Thanks for your help, just one question, i might run into issues with the cooler being to big and hitting the case fan, so I need to get the measurements correct. The height is from the cpu to the case (glass panel in my case). the width would be from the top of the case to the bottom and the length would be from the back to the front of the pc? Something like this?
